A Grand Success at the Restored Antonito Headquarters

La Sociedad Protección Mutua de Trabajadores Unidos 2024 Convention was a resounding success.  This year’s event was particularly meaningful as it was the first convention held at the newly restored headquarters in Antonito, a testament to the resilience of the SPMDTU and the strength of community collaboration.  The success of our convention has established a solid foundation, symbolizing both the rich history and bright future of the SPMDTU.  Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and energy.  Together, we look forward to advancing our mission and making an even greater impact in the years ahead.

On the eve of the SPMDTU 2024 biennial convention held at Antonito, Colorado, an image of the founder’s statue taken near the end of the day portrays what appears to be a halo at the top of the silhouette.  Perhaps this was his message to the convention delegates blessing the newly restored Sala Superior. The shadow cast by the statue  widens outward and seems to continue beyond the range of the camera, a symbol of the path taken in the decades of growth after Don Celedonio Mondragón founded la Sociedad in 1900. His influence and legacy continue to the present day.
